Lowering the  pH balance  in your swimming pool is important for maintaining water quality and swimmer comfort.   •  Test the pH Level: Start by testing the current pH level of your pool water using a pH test kit or test strips. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for accurate readings.
  •  Calculate the amount needed: Determine how much pH decrease (acid) you need to add to your pool to lower the pH to the desired range. The amount required depends on the size of your pool and the current pH level. Refer to the pH decreaser product’s instructions or use an online calculator to estimate the amount.
  •  Safety Precautions: Always wear appropriate safety gear, such as gloves and goggles, when handling pool chemicals. Work in a well-ventilated area.
  •  Add pH Decreaser (Acid): Always measure the recommended amount of pH decrease and dissolve the pH in a bucket of water. While adding pH decreaser, never add chemicals directly to the pool water, as it can cause chemical reactions and damage pool surfaces or equipment. Slowly pour the dissolved solution into the pool while the pool pump is running. Then, pour it evenly around the edges of the pool to help with even distribution.
  •  Circulate the Water: Allow the pool pump and filtration system to run for at least 6–8 hours after adding the pH decrease. This will help distribute the acid throughout the pool and ensure thorough mixing.
  •  Recheck the pH Level: After a few hours or the next day, retest the pH level to ensure it has reached the desired range. If the pH is still too high, you may need to repeat the process.
  •  Monitor and Adjust: Continue monitoring the pH level regularly, especially after heavy pool usage, rainfall, or adding other chemicals. Adjust the pH as needed to maintain the proper balance.
  •  Maintain Total Alkalinity: Keep an eye on the total alkalinity (TA) of your pool water as well. Maintaining the proper TA can help stabilize the pH level. If necessary, adjust the TA before addressing the pH.
