Having a swimming pool is a great add on to your home. You can relax and have fun with your family around your pool. For the summer, swimming pools are great and you can take a splash whenever you want. However, if you feel like you need to take a swim during the cold months as well then installing a pool heater for pool heating can be the best thing you will ever do.
How do pool heaters work?
Pool heaters keep the water at a comfortable temperature and can help extend your pool’s lifespan. It keeps the pool water warm during the winter season. And although pool heaters may have the same goal, the working of pool heating for every pool heater is different. Primarily, the pool heaters can be divided into the following three categories
Solar pool heaters
The working of solar pool heating using the sun’s heat is a fairly simple one. Firstly, solar thermal panels are installed on your roof or on the ground, depending on the direction that your roof faces. The solar heating is harnessed to use the radiant heat from the sun to heat the solar thermal panels, which in turn heat the pool water. The pool water then is pumped into the solar panels, which contain dozens of small diameter tubes. The cold pool water then starts warming as it travels through the panels and back into the pool. This process continues as long as the panel temperature is warmer than the pool water temperature.
Electric pool heaters
For electric pool heating, electric pool heaters draw the outside air in and start circulating this air through an outer evaporator air coil. Then the liquid refrigerant within the evaporator coil starts absorbing the heat from the outside air and transforms it into a gas. Then the warm gas in the coil passes through the compressor where heat is increased and as the gas and pool water are pumped through the heat exchanger, the heat then is transferred to the water. In this way the water starts heating as it circulates and then flows back into the pool at a comfortable temperature.
Gas pool heaters
A gas pool heater is powered by burning fossil fuels, either propane or natural gas. The gas pool heater consists of a combustion chamber where the fuel burns. During the heating process, cold pool water starts running through the piping inside the chamber which is heated. This raises the water temperature to a warm, comfortable temperature which is then returned to the pool.
